LCSR EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

Monday November 3, 2025

Call to Order:   Lauren Buchmann, President

Secretary's Report :  Minutes of the September 8 meeting were distributed electronically. Georgie made a motion and Nancy seconded that the minutes  be approved.  The motion passed.

Treasurer's Report:  Marijane Ember reported the period from September 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025.  There was an opening balance of  $8,778.93 , income of  $1,720.15, and expenses of  $1,764.00 resulting in an ending balance of  $8,735.08.  The report will be held for audit.

President's Report: President Buchmann suggested the board members register on the PASR website for the Winter Zoom presentations.  The Leadership Zoom Conference will be held November 18 and 20. The Region 4 meeting was held October 23 and was hosted by York and Adams Counties.  Monte Carlo Night will be held March 22, 2026. There are a number of committee openings including:  Member Benefits, SSMHF, and Legislative. The elections of  President - Jean Young, and Vice President - Carol Gilbert will  take place at  the November 10 membership meeting.

 

Committee Reports:

Hospitality:   Becky Peifer and Sue Hoxworth are planning the spring membership meeting.  The  March luncheon will be held at the Career Vocational Center. There will be a limit of 50 members, and there will be no business meeting. 

Ed Support:  Carol Gilbert asked for volunteers to go over the staff grants.  Lauren Buchmann and Nancy Frederick volunteered.   There is a Loretta Woodson Award , funded through  the state, available for a teacher or a para-professional.

Necrology:  Geri Kull reported LCSR lost no members.

Recreo:  Nancy Pruskowski shared her mini trips and recreational activities for the 2025 - 2026 year.

 

Old Business:  Marijane Ember reported  twenty  $25 Trivia tickets have been sold so far.  Lottery tickets will be on sale until January.  The Shady Maple Breakfast was a success!

Secretary's Report :  Marge Rineer made a motion and John Chesters seconded that the minutes of July 28, 2025 be approved.  The motion passed.

Treasurer's Report:   Marijane Ember reported the period from July 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025.  There was an opening balance of  $7,057.48, income of $2,493.58 and expenses of $772.13 resulting in an ending balance of  $8,778.93.  The treasurer's report will be held for audit by the audit committee volunteers:  Carol Gilbert, Geri Kull, MaryJane Ember, and Lauren Buchmann.

 

Old Business:   

Marijane Ember shared information about the Playing Hooky Picnic and the November 16 Trivia Day.  There will be a signup sheet, at the picnic, for the 10/1 Shady Maple breakfast.

Marijane Ember will be our 4th delegate at the  October House of Delegates.

 

President's Report:  Lauren Buchmann:  The Audit Committee met on August 21 at Marijane Ember's house.  They found no discrepancies in the financial reports from the fiscal year 2024 - 2025. There will be   60 Lottery Tickets ($20) available for the PASR fund raiser.  They will be for sale at the picnic and November meetings as well as by mail.   A karaoke machine was purchased for $59.61 for use at the picnic.  There are several vacant LCSR positions .  Last month Lauren mailed 97 packets to the 2024 retirees.  We have two new members from the packets.

 

Committee Reports:

Hospitality:   Sue Hoxworth reported the November membership luncheon will again feature a cheese and crackers welcome table.

Necrology:  Geri Kull reported LCSR lost 3 members.

Recreo:  Nancy Pruskowski discussed the LCSR  mini trips for the 2025 - 2026 year.  

Newsletter:  Lauren Buchmann shared the deadline for the fall newsletter which is September  26.

Community Service :  Marge Rineer : LCSR will be collecting for the Food Hub at the November 10 membership meeting.

Secretary's Report:  Ruth Havercamp made a motion and Becky Peifer seconded that the minutes from May 5 be approved.  The motion passed.

Treasurer's Report:  Maryjane Ember reported the period from May 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025. There was an opening balance of $7,225.22, income of $240.13,  and expenses of $407.87 resulting in an ending balance of  $7,057.48.  The treasurer's report will be held for audit.  The audit committee volunteers will be Carol Gilbert, Geri Kull, Mary Jane Ember and Lauren Buchmann.

President's Report:  The entertainment for the November 10  luncheon  will be the AARP Chorus. We will be selling lottery tickets at the membership meeting. The 2026 Monte Carlo Committee will be forming in September. There are several vacant LCSR positions.

 

Committee Reports:  

Hospitality:  Becky Peifer reported the November luncheon will have two menu choices. There will be a Food Hub collection, memorial service, and service awards.

Necrology:  Geri Kull reported LCSR lost 5 members.

Recreo:  Nancy Pruskowski reported on the 2024 - 2025  recreational /  travel activities .   There was revenue of  $7,788.00 , and expenses of $7520.51. The unintended net gain was $267.49. The first year's profit will be saved for next year's expenses.

Newsletter:  Lauren Buchmannreported that the picnic postcards are due by September1. The fall newsletter deadline is September 26.

SSMHF:  Jean Young presented an annual report. There were 88 people serviced with:  cards, visits, flowers, or plants.

Community Service:  Marge Rineer and Ruth Havercamp shared that  we will be collecting , in the fall,  for the Food Bank.

 

Old Business:   The breakfast at Shady Maple will be October 1,  at 9:00 AM.  Peters BBQ will cater the  picnic.  The price will be $15 per person.

 

New Business:  John Bratton has resigned his position due to family obligations.

Secretary's Report:  John Chesters made a motion and Mike Hoff seconded that the minutes from March 3,2025 be approved.  The motion passed.

Treasurer's Report:  Marijane Ember reported the period from  March 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025.  There was an opening balance of $7,469.39,  income of $10,230.14, and expenses of $10,474.31. resulting in   an ending balance of $7,225.22. There was a motion to hold for audit approved by Marge Rineer and seconded by Jean Young.

President's Report President Buchmann recognized the Monte Carlo Committee members for a job well done, those who attended and served at the Region 4 meeting, and Sue and Becky for a lovely luncheon in April. Jean Young made a motion to continue the Monte Carlo fund raiser in March of 2026 and Marijane Ember seconded the motion.  The motion passed.  We are in need of 3 more House of Delegates. John Chesters, Marge Rineer,  Carol Gilbert,  and Lauren Buchmann have volunteered to be delegates. There was no movement with the open positions (offices).

 

Committee Reports:

Hospitality:  Sue Hoxworth and Becky Peifer shared that we might want to consider returning our membership meetings to Calvary Church. There was discussion of the pros and cons.

Necrology:  Geri Kull reported LCSR lost 1 member.

RECREO:  Nancy Pruskowski shared her mini-adventure plans and future tours.

Newsletter:  Lauren Buchmann :  Any information , for the summer edition, should be sent by June 16.

 

Old Business: 

A Shady Maple  Breakfast will be held October 1, 2025.  We will meet in the lobby at 9:00, and reservations are not necessary.

Call to Order:  President Buchmann
Secretary's Report: John Chesters made a motion and Geri Kull seconded that the minutes from February 3,2025 be approved. The motion passed.
Treasurer's Report: Marijane Ember reported the period from January 2, 2025 to February 28,2025. There was an opening balance of $5,031.64, income of $3,675.11, and expenses of $1,237.36, resulting in an ending balance of   $7,469.39.
Presentation of the 2025 – 2026 Budget Proposal: John Bratton presented the Budget Proposal. After discussion, it was decided to increase the allowance for State/Regional Meetings to $1500. The Proposal was accepted.
President's Report
Lauren Buchmann listed the Board Offices that are open. She asked for a Nominating Committee to make suggestions for the following offices: President, Vice President, Educational Support, Member Benefits, Retirement Planning, Membership Chairman, and LPEC Representative. Sue Hoxworth and John Chesters will head the committee.
Monte Carlo is proceeding well with ticket sales and basket items. The Region 4 Meeting on April 10th will have Peter’s BBQ, cake, and drinks for lunch. Serving volunteers are John Chesters, Mary Chesters, John Bratton, Marge Rineer, and Don Rineer. The speaker for the April 7th Luncheon will be Sheri Snyder, Lanc. County Office of Aging.


Committee Reports:
Hospitality: Sue Hoxworth reported that meal choices have been chosen for the April 7th General Membership Meeting. At 9:00AM, a Cheese and Cracker Bar will be available before the luncheon.
Community Service:  Ruth Havercamp and Marge Rineer reported that it is difficult to find the “Volunteer of the Year.”  Sign-up Sheets will be placed on luncheon tables to gather information about members’ volunteer activities for a future award.
Necrology: Geri Kull reported LCSR lost 1 member.
Picnic: Marijane Ember reported that the picnic is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10th at Longs Park.  Peter’s BBQ will be served for lunch.
RECREO: The Wheatland trip was filled and the Alpaca Farm visit still has a few openings.


Old Business: The PASR House of Delegates will be held in State College on October 5,6,7. There will be 6 or 7 Delegates needed.
New Business: Breakfast at Shady Maple was suggested as a Summer Social Event. Lauren Buchmann volunteered to check it out.

LCSR/PASR EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

February 3, 2025    Centerville Diner     1:00 PM

Present: Lauren Buchmann, John Bratton, John Chesters, Mary Ellen Donat, Marijane Ember, Sue Hoxworth, Geri Kull, Becky Peifer, Marge Rineer, Jean Young, Becky Peifer, Marge Rineer

President Lauren Buchmann called the meeting to order.

Minutes: Marge Rineer made a motion and John Bratton seconded the motion that the minutes from the October 28, 2024 Board Meeting be approved.

Treasurer Report: Marijane Ember reported the period from October 29,2024 to January 1, 2025. There was an opening balance of $5,764.52, plus income of 3,616.09, with expenses of $4,348.97, resulting in an ending balance of $5,031.64. Sue Hoxworth made a motion and John Bratton seconded that the report should be filed for audit.

President’s Report: 

  • Lauren Buchmann reported that Monte Carlo Plans are progressing well. Tickets can be purchased through John Bratton. A new raffle category,” non-attending ticket”, will be added this year. Lauren can provide a letter and form to anyone who would provide a basket or donation.

  • Leadership Vacancies: Vice President, President, Retirement Planning, Educational Support, L/PEC, and Member Benefits need to be filled. A Nominating Committee is needed to recruit for open positions. 

  • The Region 4 Meeting will be held in Millersville at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 10th. LCSR is hosting with the Lebanon County Chapter, which will man the registration table and provide breakfast snacks during the registration period. LCSR will serve a plated lunch of Peters BBQ and clean up after lunch. Volunteers include John Chesters, Mary Chesters, John Bratton, Marge Rineer and Becky Peifer.

  • LCSR may host a luncheon at the Mount Joy CCTC for the Spring General Membership Meeting in 2026. The tentative date is April 17, 2026.  Marge Rineer and Sue Hoxworth will explore that option.

 

Committee Reports:

Hospitality: Sue Hoxworth reported that the Regency Room at Eden Resorts has been reserved for the General Membership Meeting on April 7, 2025. It was decided that having a Cheese and Cracker table with an earlier registration is preferable.

Necrology: LCSR lost 3 members.

Scholarship and Grants: John Bratton reported that Grants will be announced in the newsletter. There will be posters featuring the Grant recipients at the Monte Carlo event.

Social Services: Jean Young reported that Social Services is well funded. Identifying Members-in-Need is a problem. 

Trivia/Picnic: Marijane Ember reported that the Trivia Event generated enough revenue to fund one scholarship. There will be another Trivia Game on November 16, 2025. The LCSR Picnic will be held on September 10, 2025.

RECREO: Nancy Pruskowski reported that the planned local events have been well received. She is presently expanding future trips to include a ”Dine-Around” Bus Trip.

New Business: The House of Delegates will be held at State College on October 5,6,7 which is Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning. PASR will offer $75 to attending members. LCSR will also offer reimbursement.

Marijane Ember moved to adjourn the meeting. Jean Young seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned.
