President's Message
Dear BCCPASR Members,
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to be the president of this fine organization! I’ve been retired three years and have been very active with our local, regional, and State PASR organizations. I am very proud of the good works that are done in the name of PASR. Being in education, as you all know, goes way beyond the classroom. I’m sure every one of us has a story where we helped a child that went above and beyond our day to day job. We have spent countless dollars on items to improve our schools/classrooms beyond the curriculum. What I am most proud of is the selfless giving of our members, no matter the cause/organization.
Each month we choose an agency/organization in need of our help--our chapter never lets us down. When we had a cereal collection, we collected over 80 boxes. Could you imagine if all 400 members gave just one box of cereal how impressive our collection would be? We are one of the top chapters in the State organization when it comes to helping our members and our community.
My reason for writing is to ask you to get more involved in our organization. I realize that we are all very busy and that a monthly luncheon may be too much to ask (although it’s always nice to see old friends and meet new ones). Knowing how generous you are, I’m asking that if you are able, perhaps when we are collecting for a certain charity, you will donate to that cause. I will try to find central locations for a drop off. We are planning to create a monthly calendar for donations so that you know in advance who we are helping. I look forward to a busy year as your president but this is YOUR organization, and I want it to be a collaborative effort! Even if you cannot attend our monthly meetings, I’m hopeful that you will take part in one of our community service events and/or donations. Donna Messner, our secretary, sends the monthly minutes via email. Please take a few minutes to see what’s going on and how you can participate.
